    James is an intellectual property attorney who focuses his practice on patent litigation in district and appellate courts. Additionally, James works with companies to license and monetize their IP portfolio. James brings a wealth of knowledge in the life sciences and biotechnology space.

    Prior to joining Daignault Iyer, James served in the United States Army as a commander in the Army Reserve, and then on active duty in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. While on active duty, James served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney with the District of Colorado U.S. Attorney’s Office. In that role, he prosecuted numerous cases and argued several dispositive motions before the court. James was retired from service after six years.

    James earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY Brockport. He then obtained his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law. While in law school, James served as a judicial intern for the Honorable John L. Sinatra in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York.

    James also maintains an active pro bono practice. He represents veterans regarding their service-connected disabilities and ratings decisions before the Department of Veterans Administration.
